A 74-year-old Long Beach man has died in the hospital two weeks after being strangled by his daughter, California police reported.

Officers responding to reports of an assault found Juan Ochoa Rodriguez and a woman with critical injuries to their necks April 25 at a Long Beach home, police said in a news release.

The woman was later released from the hospital but Rodriguez died May 6 of his injuries, police said.

Officers arrested Genesis Noemi Ochoa, 30, of Long Beach, on charges of attempted murder and elder abuse on April 26, the release said. She is Rodriguez’s daughter.

Ochoa strangled her father and the woman after an altercation escalated, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information call detectives William Sentelle, Sean Magee or Juan Carlos Reyes at 562-570-7244.
