A woman set a man on fire early Tuesday, May 3, at a downtown Los Angeles bus stop, California police said.

The woman hurled a cup of accelerant at the man and set him ablaze at 1 a.m., Los Angeles police told McClatchy News. She ran away while onlookers rushed to help the man.

He was hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

The incident took place near Flower Street and Olympic Boulevard, police said.

Witnesses said the two did not appear to know each other and did not speak to each other before the attack, police told KTTV.
