Another Dollar Tree is coming to SLO County — into a big vacant space
A Dollar Tree is taking over an old Rite Aid spot in San Luis Obispo County, with its opening day expected in a just few weeks.
Since Rite Aid declared bankruptcy in May 2025, the pharmacy has closed its 10 locations in SLO County, turning into large storefronts that can sit empty for years.
Yet at 531 5 Cities Drive in Pismo Beach, a Dollar Tree is filling the pharmacy chain’s former spot. On Wednesday, workers were carrying wooden slats into the building and fixing up the store’s signature green aisle signs.
It joins the 10 already existing Dollar Tree locations in SLO County.
The empty beige shelves of the pharmacy will be transformed to hold a medley of toys and crafts, home decor, household supplies with a price range of $1 to $5.
The new Dollar Tree is set to open in the next three to four weeks, construction workers told The Tribune on Wednesday.
Though the company has not yet officially confirmed its new location, job listings for the new spot included listings for customer service associate and assistant manager, according to the Dollar Tree website.
