New beachfront hotel to open in SLO County after $9 million makeover
A new oceanfront hotel that recreates the feeling of a private beach estate is opening in San Luis Obispo County this summer.
The new Avila Beach House, which sits just steps away from Avila Beach, reimagines the former Avila Lighthouse Suites at 550 Front St.
The 54-suite hotel is slated to open in late July, Peregrine Hospitality spokesperson Carolyn Sanders told The Tribune.
The global hotel and resort group behind the new venture spent $9 million on renovations that span from the lobby to meeting spaces and guest rooms.
“The new property will blend East Coast nautical influences with the relaxed sensibility of California’s Central Coast, while honoring Avila Beach’s small-town character and lighthouse heritage,” Sanders said in an email.
What will new Avila Beach hotel look like?
The intimate seaside hotel will look and feel like a private beach house “without the hassle of owning one,” a news release said.
The hotel will mostly feature one-bedroom suites, with a few two-bedroom accommodations, Sanders said. All 54 suites will also have a living room and outdoor patios.
The “cottage-like” suites will feature whitewashed woods, coastal artwork and design touches that draw on its lighthouse heritage, according to the release.
Outside, visitors can take a dip in the pool or lounge in chairs scattered under palm trees and string lights.
“Guests are invited to unwind and slow down, whether relaxing on a breezy patio with a glass of local vineyard wine or exploring the surrounding landscape through easy beach access, quiet nature trails and coastal excursions away from the crowds,” the release said.
Hospitality group invests $50 million into SLO County hotels
Peregrine Hospitality has already infused more than $50 million into hotels and resorts across San Luis Obispo County.
Beside Avila Beach House, the global group is in the midst of premiering three new dining concepts at the Paso Robles Inn, as well as launching the new Pacific Point Resort — combining the Pismo Lighthouse Suites and Shore Cliff Hotel into one oceanfront property opening this July.
The Vespera Resort on Pismo Beach is also part of its portfolio.
