Longtime SLO restaurant and nightclub The Graduate is closing
The Graduate Restaurant & Night Club in San Luis Obispo is closing after 45 years.
“It is with great sadness that we let you all know that The Graduate will be closing its doors for good at the end of August,” The Graduate posted on its Facebook page on Thursday evening:
The large establishment, which opened in 1975, is located on 990 Industrial Way.
Over the decades, The Graduate has been a popular location for music concerts, dance nights, family and business gatherings with food and drink offerings including steak, burgers, beer and mixed drinks.
Popular events included the themed nights dance such as “Country Night,” “Noche Caliente” and “The Big Chill,” celebrating music from various decades. Screenings of Ultimate Fighting Championship bouts also packed the venue.
The Graduate didn’t give a specific reason for the closure. “We are sorry to go and want to wish everyone to be well and stay safe,” the business wrote on Facebook.
“We first started this establishment in 1975 and have seen many trends and many faces come and go,” the business wrote.
News of The Graduate’s closing, drew an outpouring of comments — more than 800 — and more than 2,000 shares on Facebook on Thursday night.
“I met my husband here on country night 25 years ago ...” one person commented. “And had some of the best dancing nights and memories. SLO will never be the same.”
