Struggling to survive COVID-19? SLO is giving money to local businesses
Businesses in the city of San Luis Obispo seeking some much-needed relief during the coronavirus pandemic can now apply for grants.
The city, working in partnership with The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County and the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, is offering individual grants of up to $5,000 to local businesses impacted by COVID-19.
The money is coming from $200,000 the city has allocated from the CARES Act funding the city received as part of the federal government’s stimulus package.
Additionally, two private donors have provided a total of $60,000.
The grants can be used to pay for rent, utilities, payroll and other operational costs.
The application period opens Monday and will remain open until 5 p.m. Aug. 24 for-profit businesses in the city, not just Chamber of Commerce members.
