Shepherd mix Milo, still a puppy at heart at age 2, loves a good walk and a game of fetch
Springtime can cause people to forget that irresistible puppies grow up to be adult dogs. Sadly, this is one of the reasons young adult dogs regularly fill county animal shelters.
These youngsters still have puppy hearts and yearn for loving homes.
Milo is an approximately 2-year-old, white German shepherd mix who still imagines he’s a baby; he loves people, is playful, and has an enviable enthusiasm for life.
Because Milo’s first owners were likely smitten by his puppy charm, Milo returns the favor, and loves all the people he meets. According to his previous owner, Milo’s good with children, but they brought Milo to the shelter because one of the family members has allergies.
Though a puppy at heart, Milo’s a smart boy who loves to learn. He’s already mastering his basic commands and, once over the initial excitement, he remembers his leash skills. He travels well in a car and would be thrill to accompany you on walks, hikes, or beach trips.
Milo has multiple dog pals at the shelter. He’s also excellent at playing fetch, exuberantly running after the ball then charging back to drop it at your feet; so providing Milo with the exercise he needs can be a fun game.
Milo is a delightful combination of puppy-like zest coupled with a good foundation for the marvelous adult dog he’s becoming.
All he needs is a dog-loving person or family to welcome him home.
For more information about Milo, call the volunteer line at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter at 805-781-4400 or visit www.slocounty.ca.gov/aserv. The shelter is at 885 Oklahoma Ave., off Highway 1, in San Luis Obispo.
The full-price adoption fee is $81 for cats and $115 for dogs, plus a $28 county license fee for dogs, if the adopters are San Luis Obispo County residents.
The adoption fee includes a new collar, a spay or neuter operation, basic vaccinations, a microchip and eligibility for a free veterinary check within San Luis Obispo County. Cats also are tested for feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus, and adopters receive a carrier.
