Cat yoga classes are coming to SLO
Cat yoga has arrived on the Central Coast.
Woods Humane Society is offering a Yoga with Cats class every Sunday at its San Luis Obispo animal shelter — and the classes are filling up fast.
The inaugural July 2 session already filled its 20 spots, but spaces are still available for the July 9 class.
Leading the 90-minute, vinyasa-style session is Ash Rexford, the SLO Yoga Center instructor who co-organized last month’s Harry Potter Yoga in the Park event in San Luis Obispo.
As the name implies, cat yoga invites participants to stretch and bend their bodies in the presence of flexible felines. “We’re going to have a room full of cats,” all of them residents of the animal shelter that are up for adoption, Rexford said.
“Cats don’t like to be ignored, so they’ll probably come over and rub themselves on people,” Rexford said, which means plenty of chances to cuddle with kitties.
The Yoga with Cats class is open to all levels and costs $20 to attend.
