Truss Wines has traditionally been pretty modern when it comes to its wine practices, but as of Thursday, it’s offering guests a different experience — one that’s less rushed and more “classic California.”

Located at Willow Creek District Estate, which sits along Arbor Road on the west side of Paso Robles, Truss Wines’ tasting room previously featured contemporary elements like standing bars.

Now, after reimagined renovation, the new space feels more warm and inviting, a news release said Thursday.

Featuring clean lines, fine art and cozy furniture, guests are now invited to a more serene and cozy wine tasting experience — one that embodies what Truss Wines named “a throwback to the unhurried hospitality of classic-California wine tasting.”

“We set out to amplify the heritage of this estate while showcasing the wines and landscape in new and fresh ways,” owner-winemaker Kyle Jury said in the release. “The new space is also functionally designed around the Truss ethos of service, creating an environment where you feel welcome, inspired and transported.”

The renovated space includes two separate indoor tasting areas, as well as outdoor lounge seating overlooking the pond and vineyard, which was intentionally designed to promote guests to settle in and connect with one another, as opposed to the more transitional experience of a standing bar.

The 26-acre Truss estate dates back to 2002, when vines were first planted by NFL star and winemaker Terry Hoage. After retiring from the industry, Hoage passed the estate to Jury and his partners, who in 2022 established the Truss label with an initial focus on chardonnay and pinot noir.

The estate now also specializes in Rhône variety wines, which will roll out this spring and summer.

Guests can now visit the renovated tasting space, flights costing $20, although that fee is waived with the purchase of three wine bottles.

Reservations aren’t required but are recommended. Hours are Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
