This Paso Robles wine is one of Wine Spectator’s top 20 picks for 2022
Looking for a stellar wine for Thanksgiving dinner?
Wine Spectator magazine just released its Top 100 Wines of 2022, and a red blend from Paso Robles made the list.
Ranked at No. 16, the 2020 Beautiful Earth blend by Paso Robles winery McPrice Myers received a score of 94, according to Wine Spectator.
“Supple, rich and plump with personality, this red offers an array of black raspberry, smoked meat, cracked pepper and black olive flavors that race toward the zesty finish,” Wine Spectator senior editor Tim Fish wrote in his review of the wine.
According to McPrice Myers, Beautiful Earth is a blend of seven different grapes: syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, petite syrah and zinfandel. It retails for $45 a bottle.
“Since the first vintage of Beautiful Earth in 2005, the goal has always been to show off the rich diversity of the Paso Robles (American Viticultural Area),” McPrice Myers founder and winemaker McPrice “Mac” Myers said in the release. “To see it on this renowned list is, I must admit, pretty cool and a bit humbling. Credit goes to our amazing estate vineyard team, our farming partners and our winemaking team.”
Wine Spectator came up with its Top 100 list by ranking vintages “based on quality, value, availability and excitement,” the publication said.
Beautiful Red’s score earned it a place in the top 20.
Other top-rated wines included Schrader Cellars in Calistoga, Fattoria dei Barbi in Italy and HdV Wines in Napa. For the full list, go to top100.winespectator.com/lists.
