Wine festival returns to Paso Robles this weekend. Here’s what’s new
Wine lovers, rejoice! One of Paso Robles wine country’s most popular events is back with a new name and a new location.
The newly rebranded Paso Wine Fest will be held Thursday through Sunday at locations across Paso Robles.
Previously known as the Paso Robles Wine Festival, the annual event has left tree-shaded Downtown City Park for the Paso Robles Event Center, home to the California Mid-State Fair.
The festival was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“This year’s festival is a brand-new event, with a new name, new venue and new experiences throughout the four days of festivities,” organizers with the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance said in a news release.
The Paso Wine Fest kicks off Thursday evening with winemaker dinners at Thomas Hill Organics and The Hatch Rotisserie & Bar. One dinner had sold out as of Wednesday.
Other highlights include Sparkling Paso at Paris Valley Road Winery in Paso Robles, featuring sparkling wines paired with hors d’oeuvres, and the sold-out Paso Starry Night Dinner at the Paso Robles Event Center. Both of those events are on Friday.
Saturday brings the Cab Icons of Paso makers seminar, also at the Event Center.
But Saturday’s biggest draw is sure to be the Grand Tasting event at the fairgrounds.
In addition to about 100 wineries pouring their finest vintages, attendees can expect music by three bands and DJ Manny Barba as well as food trucks, a photo booth and a makers market showcase featuring artisan vendors.
On Sunday, wineries will “host individual events throughout Paso Robles wine country,” the release said.
Admission costs $150 to $200 for winemaker dinners, $115 for Sparkling Paso and $75 for makers seminars. Tickets for Saturday’s Grand Tasting cost $179 to $299, and include a $10 food voucher and a complimentary wine glass and tote bag.
