Cal Poly grad’s convertible heels company featured on Ellen show’s ’12 Days of Giveaways’
A shoe company founded by a Cal Poly graduate got a national TV boost when popular daytime talk show “Ellen” showcased the brand as part of its “12 Days of Giveways.”
Actor and television personality Kym Douglas modeled convertible high heels from Pashion Footwear on a Dec. 2 episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” kicking off host Ellen DeGeneres’ giveaway extravaganza.
“Kym looked incredible in her green Christmas dress and of course, her ‘champagne Pashionistas,’ ” Pashion Footwear blogged on its website, referring to its open-toed sandals with adjustable ankle straps.
During the episode, Douglas, who formerly starred in “The Bold and the Beautiful,” stood with her Pashion shoes in plain view as she presented “12 Days” gifts including products from SodaStream, Keurig and GE Lighting.
She even balanced on one leg as she showed off how Pashion shoes can transform from a heel to a flat in seconds.
Pashion Footwear ‘pumped’ about ‘Ellen’ TV appearance
Based in San Luis Obispo, Pashion Footwear was founded by Cal Poly graduate Haley Pavone in 2016, when she was a sophomore.
Pavone, who studied business administration at Cal Poly, was inspired to start the company after taking off painful heels at a party, The Tribune reported in June. Then a friend stepped on her foot with a stiletto.
Pashion Footwear shoes were showcased at a pre-party at the Grammy Awards in February and featured in Forbes magazine in June.
The company launched officially online sales in June.
The company now offers vegan patent leather shoes in three styles including Pashionista, available in coal black, merlot red and champagne. (There’s also a suede version in coal black.) Girl Boss, a closed-toe, Mary Jane-style pump, and Goddess, an open-toe sandal with 30-inch laces, only come in one color, coal black.
“Our team here at Pashion is beyond thrilled to be working with the incredible Kym Douglas!” the Pashion Footwear blog read. “We could not be more pumped to have such a strong and powerful woman supporting us and showing off our shoes.”
