SLO County is getting another Mountain Mike’s Pizza — and it has a family-friendly arcade

San Luis Obispo County is getting a second Mountain Mike’s Pizza restaurant, this time in Pismo Beach.

Following the April 2022 opening of Mountain Mike’s Pizza in Atascadero, the chain has begun spreading to other parts of the Central Coast, Tiger Foods & Hospitality co-owner Gary Gewal told The Tribune.

The Pismo Beach location will be located at 411 Five Cities Drive, the former home of the recently closed Coco’s Bakery Restaurant, Grewal said. It will open in in May or June.

“We were customers of Coco’s, too,” Grewal said. “Coco’s is a great family atmosphere, and we wanted to build on that and have kids come there to and enjoy that same space, that same great view.”

The South County location will feature an arcade full of games of every era, Grewal said.

From billiards to virtual reality and everything in between, Grewal said he hopes to eventually host game competitions once the restaurant is up and running.

“A lot of our guests would come in and tell us, ‘The food’s great, but the kids need something to do, something fun in a family-fun environment like this,’” Grewal said.

The new restaurant will carry the same menu as the Atascadero location, Grewal said, featuring favorites like its “legendary crispy, curly pepperoni” and specialty pizzas, including Mr. Veggiemore, Chicken Club and Sizzlin’ Bacon.

All produce and ingredients will be sourced locally, including the all-you-can-eat salad and pizza buffet, which will be affordably priced, Grewal said.

“There’s not another place out there, probably, on the Central Coast where you can eat as much food as you can for $11.99, especially fresh food,” Grewal said.

With construction starting soon, Grewal said he was glad to get feedback from customers of the Atascadero location on the new design.

The former Coco’s building will receive some exterior design updates, but most of the changes to the space will happen inside with the addition of new seating, televisions, and the arcade games, Grewal said.

“This is going to be a community restaurant — that’s the vibe that we’re trying to build on,” Grewal said. “Our community really got involved to build it, and everyone feels like they were involved with this arcade-based restaurant coming to life.”

Grewal and his family, who own Tiger Foods & Hospitality, own the rights to build Mountain Mike’s Pizza restaurants and plan to open locations in Lompoc and Solvang sometime in the future.
