SLODoCo opens third SLO County location: ‘We can’t wait to see you!’

Galaxy doughnuts are officially available on Higuera Street.

Cult-favorite doughnut shop SLODoCo opened its newest location at 195 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo at 5 a.m. Friday. The building formerly housed Sunshine Donuts.

It’s the popular chain’s second location in San Luis Obispo and its third in the county overall. SLODoCo first opened in SLO in 2010 and then opened an Atascadero location in March 2019.

The new spot sells all the same goods as SLODoCo’s other spots, including glazed doughnuts, vegan and gluten-free options, and coffee.

The company recently told The Tribune it hopes to copy its local success and expand to other markets around the state, mainly in college towns.

SLODoCo announced the SLO shop’s opening in an Instagram post Thursday night.

“HUGE NEWS!” the post read. “Tomorrow at 5 a.m. we will be opening the doors to our new location at 195 Higuera in SLO. See you bright and early! We will be ready with hot coffee, smiling faces and tongs in hand. We can’t wait to see you!”

On Friday morning, a steady stream of customers could be seen going into the newly renovated shop to grab doughnuts.

“We’re really thankful the community has been really receptive to us taking over the space,” SLODoCo business manager Heather Doss told The Tribune on Thursday ahead of the opening. “We’ve gotten great feedback that they’re excited, so we’re really excited for our customers to come visit us here to.”

SLODoCo’s Higuera Street location is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
