Wetzel’s Pretzels is finally opening in downtown SLO. Here’s when

Soft pretzel lovers, rejoice — mall-favorite Wetzel’s Pretzels has finally announced an opening date for its new location in downtown San Luis Obispo.

According to a sign posted on the door Friday, the new location at 852 Higuera St. will open Sunday at 11 a.m.

The food shop is going in to what was formerly The Sock Drawer, which closed its doors and became online-only company Goodly in March 2022.

The 1,075-square-foot space will offer classic Wetzel’s Pretzels menu items such as bite-sized hot dogs, seasoned pretzels and lemonade, a representative told The Tribune in April 2021 soon after the company announced it was opening the new location.

At the time, the business was expected to open by summer 2021; it has instead been under construction for several months.

Wetzel’s Pretzels in San Luis Obispo is currently hiring workers, according to a sign in its window Friday. More information can be found at wetzels.com/join-the-team.
