Restaurant inspections in November: The cleanest and dirtiest kitchens in SLO County
Dozens of restaurants in San Luis Obispo County passed health inspections with flying colors in November, according to the most recent inspection reports available from Public Health.
Still, a few had several health and safety code violations that lead to low scores from inspectors who showed up unannounced.
Each month, The Tribune analyzes the data produced from the inspector reports to create a list of cafes, diners, ice cream parlors and more that scored the highest and the lowest in the previous month.
The scores received by restaurants inspected in November ranged from 78 to 100, with no violations. Read below to find out which kitchens were the most egregious, and which received a perfect score.
Lowest rated restaurants in SLO County
Corona’s Mexican Restaurant, 1263 E. Grande Ave., Arroyo Grande
Points lost: 22
Inspection notes: Observed employee not washing hands before food preparation. Feed preparation table and can opener in great need of cleaning and sanitizing. Hand-washing sink not easily accessible. Repeat violations.
Villa Del Mar, 1100 W. Grand Ave., Grover Beach
Points lost: 17
Inspection notes: Multiple repeat violations. Potentially hazardous food was observed left out during lunch break, at a temperature that could promote the rapid growth of microorganisms that can cause illness. Surfaces of cooking equipment, as well as floors and walls, in need of thorough cleaning.
Blast & Brew, 803 13th St., Paso Robles
Points lost: 13.7
Inspection notes: Observed employees preparing foods without sanitizer available to clean food contact surfaces. Ensure mop water is disposed of after use.
