SLO’s Taste restaurant is opening a new Central Coast location

A popular San Luis Obispo restaurant will add a new location to Paso Robles’ growing downtown dining scene.

Taste Craft Eatery will bring its much-loved signature sliders, macaroni and cheese and salads to a space at 810 11th St., just across the street from Downtown City Park in spring 2020, restaurant co-owner Gretchen LeMiere said.

Gretchen and Scott LeMiere have been serving up dishes for San Luis Obispo County customers since 1999, when they started In Good Taste catering company. They expanded the business into a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Broad Street in 2013.

Gretchen LeMiere said the couple has been considering a location in Paso Robles for about four or five years. The LeMieres became more serious about the expansion during the past couple of years, when they became empty nesters.

“It’s got a great vibe,” LeMiere said of Paso Robles. “It’s where I go on the weekends if I want to go out to eat.”

The restaurant started out as a catering company in the late 1990s and opened a brick-and-mortar location on Broad Street in the mid 2000s. Now it’s opening a second location in Paso Robles.

New Taste restaurant, same menu

Taste’s new Paso Robles location was previously home to Second Press Wine Bar and Eatery, and, most recently, The Blue Moon Southwestern Grill.

The LeMieres are adding a large covered patio to the front of the restaurant, which has double the space of their San Luis Obispo spot and will allow them to host larger private groups.

“We think it’s really going to draw attention to the side of the park we’re on,” LeMiere said of the patio area.

The LeMieres plan to hire 20 to 25 new employees to work at the Paso Robles restaurant.

Diners can expect the same menu that’s served in San Luis Obispo, LeMiere said.

“We’re going to stick with our same concept because that’s what we know well, and that’s what people have come to expect from us,” she said.

The LeMieres hope to open their new location around Valentine’s Day or early spring. The couple is excited to become part of Paso Robles’ dynamic restaurant scene, which caters to locals and tourists alike, LeMiere said.

“All the restaurants up there really complement each other,” LeMiere said. “There’s something for everybody.”
