Vina Robles Amphitheatre is canceling its 2020 concert season due to coronavirus concerns
One of San Luis Obispo County’s largest event venues is canceling its entire 2020 concert season due to COVID-19.
Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles has postponed most of its upcoming music concerts and comedy shows until next year “due to state, county and city guidelines regarding COVID-19 and the improbability for mass gatherings,” according to a Thursday news release from Nederlander Concerts.
That means that fans of Steve Martin, The Beach Boys and Barenaked Ladies will have to wait until 2021 to see their favorite acts.
News of the concert cancellations comes more than a month after organizers canceled the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles due to coronavirus concerns.
Although 2021 dates for Train, originally scheduled to perform June 5, and Billy Currington, slated to play Aug. 8, have yet to be determined, the following shows have been rescheduled for new dates:
- Barenaked Ladies, originally scheduled for June 14, now performing June 12, 2021
- The Beach Boys, July 5, now performing Sept. 18, 2021
- Steve Martin and Martin Short, July 18, now performing Aug. 22, 2021
- Primus, July 31, now performing Aug. 6, 2021
- Joe Bonamassa, Aug. 3, now performing July 31, 2021
- The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Aug. 20, now performing Aug. 15, 2021
Purchased tickets will be honored on the rescheduled dates, Nederlander Concerts said. “Refunds for canceled shows will be distributed directly to patrons via point of purchase,” the release said.
“While we are now on temporary hiatus, we look forward to welcoming our community back when it’s deemed safe for everyone,” Vina Robles Amphitheatre general manager Paul Leatherman said in the release.
Vina Robles Winery and Vina Robles Amphitheatre were among more than 700 local businesses that received federal loans meant to offset the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on small businesses. Combined, the concert venue and the winery received between $350,000 and $1 million through the Paycheck Protection Program.
In lieu of live events, Nederlander Concerts has launched Wine Down Wednesdays, a free virtual concert series featuring local musicians performing on Facebook Live, the release said. Follow Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Facebook for live music paired with Vina Robles Winery wines.
