The Beach Boys are coming to Paso Robles on a ‘Surfin’ Safari’

Paso Robles will transform into “Surfin’ USA” when classic rock band The Beach Boys cruise into town this summer.

The Beach Boys will take the stage July 5 at Vina Robles Amphitheatre, according to a news release from show promoter Nederlander Concerts.

Known for their superb vocal harmonies and surf rock stylings, the platinum-selling group dominated the 1960s with such hit songs as “Good Vibrations,” “I Get Around,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Surfer Girl” and “Surfin’ Safari.” The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

This version of the band features lead singer Mike Love, who was part of the original Beach Boys lineup along with brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson and friend Al Jardine. Love will be joined on stage by Bruce Johnston and Scott Totten, among others.

The Vina Robles Amphitheatre concert will not feature Jardine, David Marks and Brian Wilson, Nederlander Concerts said. (Wilson, coincidentally, performed at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles in 2016.)

Tickets for The Beach Boys’ July 5 concert cost $54.50 to $104.50, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via phone at 323-817-6108 or online at Ticketmaster.com.

The Beach Boys aren’t the only music icons slated to perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre this year.

Shock rocker Alice Cooper will perform at the venue May 30 with Tesla and opening act Lita Ford.

On June 14, alternative rock band Barenaked Ladies will take the stage with fellow 1990s favorites Gin Blossoms and Toad the Wet Sprocket. The bands are uniting for the latest iteration of the Last Summer on Earth tour.
