Santa Margarita’s Jade Jackson returning home for a big Fremont concert
Country singer Jade Jackson is coming home to the Central Coast this winter for a concert with a modern-day musical outlaw.
Jackson will open for Shooter Jennings on Feb. 21, 2018, at the Fremont Theatre in downtown San Luis Obispo.
The son of country music legend Waylon Jennings, Jennings enjoys a strong following among fans of outlaw country and Southern rock with songs such as “The Gunslinger” and “Outlaw You.” The Fremont show is the first of five California dates in which Jackson will play in support of Jennings.
News of the tour comes as Jackson, who grew up in Santa Margarita, caps off a year of stellar accomplishments.
Jackson released her debut album, “Gilded,” in May, and spent the summer touring with punk band Social Distortion.
She made her national television debut in August, performing three songs on “CBS This Morning.”
On Dec. 7, Rolling Stone magazine ranked “Gilded” No. 30 on its year-end list of 40 Best Country and Americana Albums of 2017. Also on the list are releases by country stars Brad Paisley, Alison Krauss and Willie Nelson.
Jackson is scheduled to play the popular Stagecoach Festival in Indio in April 2018.
Tickets for her February 2018 concert cost $22 apiece and can be purchased via Eventbrite.com or in person at Boo Boo Records in San Luis Obispo.
