Classic rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd to coming back to the Mid-State Fair
Iconic classic rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd is returning to the California Mid-state Fair in Paso Robles.
The band will be headlining on the Chumash Grandstand Arena on Tuesday, July 26, starting at 7:30 p.m., according to a news release.
The Southern rock band, known for sing-along hits like “Free Bird” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” announced a farewell tour in 2018 that was put on hold due to COVID-19.
“Maybe it’s not our time to go? And maybe it’s our time to lift people’s spirits and lives and bring back some joy and happiness after so much turmoil,” said Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist and original band member, Gary Rossington, in a news release.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is ranked as one of the top 100 greatest rock bands of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
Rossington will perform along with band members Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase, according to the release.
Aside from Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Mid-State Fair line-up includes classic rock musicians like Santana and Journey.
Tickets will go on sale Friday, June 3, at 10 a.m. and range from $30 to $100, They can be purchased online at www.midstatefair.com. The theme of this year’s fair is “Full Steam Ahead.”
