Business at Cal Poly Tech Park unveils dramatic murals alongside software launch. See the art
A software company headquartered at Cal Poly’s Technology Park unveiled a collection of dramatic wall-sized murals while celebrating a product launch on Thursday.
SoCreate is a storytelling software that allows screenwriters to animate their scripts during the writing process, company spokesperson Courtney Meznarich said.
The writer can select photos from SoCreate’s image library to visualize their story. All photos in the library are licensed and ready for publishing, she said.
In September, the company will launch a new product called SoCreate Storyteller, which offers a platform for screenwriters to share their stories with the public, she said.
The company celebrated the new software on Thursday evening by inviting the public to enjoy a series of murals painted in its office.
The murals include quotes and snapshots from movies including “Star Wars,” “The Terminator” and “The Wizard of Oz.”
Artists started painting the murals in 2018, but they had to pause their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They finally completed the murals about a year ago — and Thursday was the first time the public had the chance to see the art, Meznarich said.
“It was very exciting to invite the community into see the space,” Meznarich wrote in an email to The Tribune. “It’s so inspiring.”
