Sensorio in Paso Robles to unveil 2 new light installations, celebrate fourth anniversary

In 2019, a British artist installed the Sensorio Field of Light — a sea of fiber-optic spheres that illuminate the Paso Robles countryside.

On Friday, to celebrate its four-year anniversary, Sensorio will unveil two new outdoor art exhibits, the organization said in a news release.

The event will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. and is open to the public, who can buy tickets at the Sensorio website.

As part of the festivities, attendees can enjoy a slice of cake and a glass of champagne as they tour the new art installations, the release said.

The Field of Light features “100,000 stemmed spheres lit by fiber-optics, which illuminate the landscape in subtle blooms of morphing color,” the release said.

Nearby, 69 Light Towers made of 17,000 wine bottles lit by optic fibers change colors “to an ethereal musical score,” the release said.

British artist Bruce Munro designed both art exhibits.

Sensorio was initially planned as a temporary exhibit, but organizers announced in 2021 that the installation will stay in Paso Robles indefinitely.

The newest attraction at the Sensorio Field of Light in Paso Robles is called Light Towers, a display of 69 columns assembled from 17,388 bottles illuminated by fiberoptic threads that gradually change colors. Each tower has 252 bottles.
