Buddy Guy to play Avila Beach Blues Festival
Legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy will lead the lineup at this year’s Avila Beach Blues Festival.
The all-ages outdoor music festival marks its 23rd year at Avila Beach Golf Resort on May 29 with performances by Guy, Trombone Shorty and Carolyn Wonderland.
It’s been roughly a dozen years since Guy, whose hits include “Mustang Sally” and “Stone Crazy,” last played the Avila Beach Music Festival.
But the six-time Grammy Award winner, who celebrates his 80th birthday this summer, is a frequent visitor to the Central Coast. He performed at a Jimi Hendrix tribute show at Avila Beach Golf Resort in October 2014 and played Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles in September 2015.
Trombonist/trumpeter Trombone Shorty and his band, Orleans Avenue, brought their high-energy blend of jazz, rock, funk and hip hop to the Avila Beach Blues Festival in 2014. And blues singer-songwriter Carolyn Wonderland rocked the festival in 2013.
Tickets for the Avila Beach Blues Festival cost $55 to $110 and go on sale at noon Friday at all Vallitix outlets. For more information, visit www.otterproductionsinc.com.
