Columnist Gail Collins helps us laugh at the absurdity of Trump

I love Gail Collins!

Ms. Collins is smart, compassionate and funny. She offers me an alternative to just despising President Bannon-Trump and the Congressional Mepublicans. Her column says take a moment, relax and laugh at the absurdity of it all. Humor is actually a very positive suggestion for helping Americans to cope with the real world.

I personally find Charles Krauthammer and Victor Davis Hanson quite negative with their selective trashing of Democratic politics and policies. I also personally think our local conservative columnists are sad. But I know that others like them, and I read them with that in mind.

I believe The Tribune is doing a pretty good job in printing news and commentaries that both the Trumpies and the anti-Trumpies might find of interest. It’s hard work, I suspect, especially these days.

Our Bill of Rights is a major contributor to any “greatness” the United States can claim. Although attacking the media is apparently a fun game for so many, freedom of the press is one of our most crucial rights that must always be vigorously defended, even when what is being said is not to one’s liking.
