Betty Winholtz
Betty Winholtz has been on the council for nearly eight years. Creation of a dog park and helping the library have been special projects of hers.
Winholtz agrees with Grantham about shifting a percent of the bed tax to city coffers. However, she disagrees with him on the future of the power plant; she wants it shut down.
She would cut costs by consolidating departments and not replacing employees who leave. “Attrition is a good way to go,” she said.
She is a supporter of medical marijuana dispensaries as a valuable public service. She agrees with others that the issue needs to be decided by a vote of the people.
