Suspected DUI driver flips car, lands upright, drives away
A woman driving on Highway 101 in Atascadero early Tuesday rolled her SUV, which came to rest on its wheels, and then drove off after witnesses asked her whether she was all right, the CHP said.
The driver suffered only minor injuries in the 6:14 a.m. crash on Highway 101 near Highway 41, and she was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after being treated at a local hospital.
The driver, later identified as Nicole Missamore, 33, of Atascadero, lost control of her vehicle, which rolled over but landed upright in the road. She drove away after telling witnesses she was OK, a CHP news release said.
A CHP officer found the car parked behind a dumpster in the Food 4 Less parking lot on the 8300 block of El Camino Real. The officer conducted a DUI check on Missamore and allegedly found signs of impairment. She was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton to be treated for minor injuries before being booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail. She was no longer in custody at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
