Jason Robert McMaster, 42, of San Luis Obispo was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale as well as being a felon in possession of body armor on Dec. 1, 2015.

The Sheriff’s Gang Task Force blocked traffic on part of Highway 1 and Grand Avenue in Grover Beach for about 10 minutes Tuesday evening while stopping and arresting a motorcyclist they believed was distributing narcotics, according to a department spokesman.

Officers stopped Jason Robert McMaster, 42, of San Luis Obispo at about 4:50 p.m. and allegedly found him in possession of about an ounce of methamphetamine, spokesman Tony Cipolla said in a news release. McMaster was booked into County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale and a felon in possession of body armor, Cipolla said. McMaster remained in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail on Tuesday night, jail records showed.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office considered the incident to be a “high risk stop based on McMaster’s violent criminal history, which included fighting with law enforcement and making criminal threats,” Cipolla said.
