Paso Robles man allegedly tries to stab man who refused to fight him
Paso Robles police arrested a man Monday evening after he allegedly challenged another man to a fight and then attempted to stab him when he declined.
The victim ended up with a minor cut on the elbow, and the suspect was quickly arrested on suspicion of assault, resisting arrest and possessing a methamphetamine pipe, according to a news release.
At about 5:20 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the 1200 block of Corral Creek for a report of an attempted stabbing.
The victim reportedly told officers a man challenged him to a fight for no reason. The victim did not want to fight, and as he and his brothers started to walk away, the man began chasing them with a knife and threatening to stab them.
The man allegedly cut the victim on the elbow and fled on foot. He was found and arrested by officers without further incident.
Rafael Aguilaranguiano, 20, of Paso Robles remained in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail on Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $30,000 bail, according to jail records.
Police say the incident does not appear to be gang-related.
