Paso Robles man allegedly caught driving with loaded gun, stolen items

A Paso Robles man was arrested Friday after police allegedly found drugs, guns and stolen property in his car during a traffic stop.

Around 10 a.m., Bradleigh Eugene Tabelin, 22, of Paso Robles was pulled over for a traffic violation in the 3300 block of Park Street, according to a news release from the Paso Robles Police Department. The officer noticed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, according to police, and arrested him.

Prior to the vehicle being towed from the scene, officers discovered a loaded .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun beneath the passenger seat, according to police. Heroin and methamphetamine were also found in the car.

Once the gun was found, detectives were called to assist in the investigation because there was a recent residential burglary in which several firearms were reported stolen. A further search of the car revealed a second .45-caliber handgun in the trunk, along with several boxes of ammunition. Also located was property linked to at least three vehicle burglaries that occurred within the last week, police said.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to process the evidence in order to determine the rightful owners of the property.

Tabelin was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and stolen property and several drug charges. On Friday evening, Tabelin remained in San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.
