Four North County men were arrested Monday after one of them robbed a motorist with a BB gun and punched him in the mouth, police said, even though the alleged victim handed over all of his cash.

At about 7:15 p.m., Paso Robles police responded to the 500 block of Creston Road, where the alleged victim told officers he was driving and noticed he was being followed by a white Chevrolet Camaro, a police news release said.

While the driver was stopped at the intersection of Creston and Santa Ynez roads, the Camaro pulled up next to him and a passenger pointed a black pistol at him before getting out of the car and demanding money, the motorist told officers.

The victim then handed over about $50, but the alleged robber punched him in the mouth anyway before hopping back in the car and riding away. Three other men were in the Camaro during the robbery, police said.

The Camaro didn’t get far — officers witnessed it leaving a parking lot near Sherwood and Creston roads and pulled it over. Officers allegedly found a black BB gun pistol, a shotgun and ammunition, and a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the car.

Four men — Austin Isaiah Beausoleil, 19, of Atascadero and Rafael Aguilar Anguiano, 21, Jose Rodrigo Campoverde, 22, and Felipe Gutierrez, 35, all of Paso Robles — were arrested on suspicion of felony robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony, as well as misdemeanor drug charges.

The victim reportedly identified Anguiano as his attacker.

Paso Robles police Lt. Ty Lewis said the investigation remained ongoing Tuesday morning.

As of noon Tuesday, Beausoleil and Gutierrez remained in custody at San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $85,000 and $60,000 bail, respectively.

Anguiano and Campoverde were no longer listed in jail logs as in custody.
