A 23-year-old San Luis Obispo man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly firing shots early Tuesday into a Los Osos home where his father was asleep inside, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Turner Lee Newman allegedly fired multiple gunshots through a front window of his father’s home on the 1600 block of 14th Street at about 3:45 a.m., police said.

Newman’s father was not hurt in the incident.

The Atascadero Police Department found Newman about four hours later in his vehicle parked in a parking lot on the corner of Santa Ysabel Avenue and Parriza Court in Atascadero.

Police said the weapon allegedly used in the shooting, a semi-automatic handgun, was recovered in Newman’s vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office said it is continuing to investigate the case, which has no outstanding suspects.

Newman is being held in County Jail without bail.
