Los Osos sewer line connections start March 28

jjohnston@thetribunenews.com

With construction of the Los Osos sewage treatment plant nearly complete, the system is ready to begin operating soon.

The San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Works has mailed notices to property owners in the first phase of connections to let them know they can connect to the main pipelines starting March 28. The first phase of connections includes about 1,800 homes and businesses along and south of Los Osos Valley Road and the Sunset Terrace and Cuesta-by-the-Sea neighborhoods.

The Baywood Park area is in the second and third phases, which begin connecting later this year. The connection notices apply only to developed properties that generate wastewater. Vacant lots are only required to connect once the property is developed.

Three lateral connection workshops are scheduled for Tuesday at Los Osos Middle School (phase 1) at 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Residents can also get information during office hours, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon at 2025 10th St. in Los Osos. County staff will be available to answer questions about lateral connections or other project-related issues.

For more information, go to www.slocounty.ca.gov/PW/LOWWP. A map of the connection phases is online.
