Morro Bay, Atascadero pass marijuana regulation

The Associated Press

The Morro Bay City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance on Tuesday banning commercial cultivation of medical marijuana and reaffirmed its zoning regulations that expressly disallow cultivation of marijuana except by card-carrying medical marijuana patients or licensed caregivers.

The limited cultivation of medical marijuana adopted by Morro Bay is allowed under California’s Compassionate Use Act of 1996.

The Atascadero City Council also approved an ordinance Tuesday that bans medical marijuana cultivation facilities, dispensaries and commercial cannabis activities. The new ordinance outlaws the delivery or transportation of medical marijuana except by a licensed caregiver bringing medical marijuana to a qualified patient with an identification card.
