Lou Ferrigno, 'Hulk' star who lives in A.G., to hold bodybuilding event
“The Incredible Hulk” star Lou Ferrigno is launching a new bodybuilding and fitness event.
The first-ever Ferrigno Legacy Pro-Amateur Fitness and Bodybuilding Festival will be held Nov. 28 and 29 at the Granada Theater in Santa Barbara, sponsored by World Gym International.
According to Ferrigno, the event will feature more than 300 professional and amateur athletes, including several from the Central Coast, competing in men’s and women’s bodybuilding, figure and physique contests. Other highlights include a fitness clinic, question-and-answer sessions and stage shows.
Serving as hosts are former professional bodybuilder Shawn Ray and Ferrigno’s son, actor Lou Ferrigno Jr.
Lou Ferrigno, who promotes fitness and nutrition through his company Ferrigno Fit, won two consecutive Mr. Universe titles and appeared in the bodybuilding documentary “Pumping Iron” alongside future California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In addition to his role on TV's "The Incredible Hulk,” Ferrigno spent seven seasons on CBS's "The King of Queens,” competed on NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice” and appeared in the movies "I Love You, Man" and “The Avengers.”
Ferrigno divides his time between Arroyo Grande and Santa Monica. In 2012, he became a reserve deputy with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
