Cal Poly to host annual TechPitch event
Those interested in submitting applications for technology-related business ideas to potentially win a cash prize and support services may do so by midnight Sept. 14 as part of the fifth annual TechPitch competition.
The event is a collaboration between Cal Poly, Softec and the Economic Vitality Corp.
Entrepreneurs looking to participate must apply through the website http://www.techpitch.org, with an executive summary of their business.
Selected startups will receive professional consulting, contacts and opportunities from affiliate organizations, as well as help with accessing capital.
Six applicants will pitch their ideas to a panel of industry experts and investors. The winner will receive a $5,000 grand prize.
The TechPitch event is scheduled for Oct. 21 at the Alex Madonna Expo Center in San Luis Obispo; Lynda Weinman, founder of Lynda.com , has been named the event’s keynote speaker.
Weinman recently sold her company, which offers online educational courses in business, creative and software skills for $1.5 billion.
The event is set to run 5 to 8:30 p.m., and tickets are $15 for students, $45 per person for the public or $300 per table of eight.
