Shoppers at the Target store in San Luis Obispo got more than they bargained for Friday morning.

At about 11:30 a.m., San Luis Obispo police responded to the store in the 11000 block of Los Osos Valley Road for a report of an audio track of pornography playing over the store’s PA system, Sgt. Jeff Booth said Friday afternoon.

It was not immediately known how the perpetrators managed to overrun the PA system, or how long the explicit material aired, but a store employee who wished to remain unnamed said the store was briefly evacuated while staff figured out how to turn it off.

A manager at the store who was not authorized to speak to the media said only that employees were able to end the incident but did not provide more details and referred all questions to Target Media Relations.

A media relations representative did not immediately respond for comment.

Booth said officers were in the process of taking a report Friday afternoon and the incident was still under investigation.
