Cal Poly graduates rank near the top in salary report
Cal Poly bachelor’s degree graduates rank 13th nationwide and second in California for median salaries among public universities, according to PayScale.com’s latest College Salary Report.
Grads within five years of graduation with a bachelor’s degree earn an average of $56,200, according to the university. In comparison, UC Berkeley grads earn $59,500 and UC San Diego graduates earn $50,600.
Mid-career Cal Poly grads made about $100,100, compared with those with UC Berkeley degrees who made $114,200 and UCSD degree-holders who made $102,100, the report said.
Mid-career data analyzed those with fewer than 10 years of work experience.
“We know from our industry partners that Cal Poly graduates are sought-after and valued,” Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong said in a news release.
Cal Poly ranked 63rd of 1,002 public and private schools in median earnings.
The report showed that universities that rank highly on the list produce graduates in industries including science, technology, engineering and mathematics education, often referred to as STEM education.
