Pluto's restaurant is open in downtown SLO
A new restaurant is open for business in the historic Wineman building in downtown San Luis Obispo.
Pluto’s, which offers American-style food, has signed a 20-year lease for the location at 1122 Chorro St.
“We serve incredibly fresh food in a quick-serve format,” co-owner Gerry Bugas said. Bugas and business partner Louis Kimball opened the first Pluto’s location in San Francisco in 1995. Now they own nine California locations.
The restaurant serves immediately prepared salads, hand-carved sandwiches and sides such as soup, Brussels sprouts and garlic fries from a food bar without having to wait for a server. Meals are under $10. Pluto’s also serves beer and wine.
The San Luis Obispo location has between 20 and 30 employees, Bugas said.
