Legendary singer-songwriter Arlo Guthrie is coming to the Central Coast next spring.

The “Alice’s Restaurant” troubadour will perform April 7, 2018, at the Fremont Theatre in downtown San Luis Obispo as part of his Re:Generation tour. He’ll be joined on by his two of his children, Abe and Sarah Lee Guthrie.

The son of folk pioneer Woody Guthrie, Arlo Guthrie is best known for his hit “Alice’s Restaurant Massacree,” a humorous 18-minute song about his arrest for littering on Thanksgiving Day 1965. The title track of his 1967 debut album, it inspired a 1969 movie and landed him in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Guthrie, whose other hits include “City of New Orleans” and “Massachusetts,” performed at Live Oak Music Festival in northern Santa Barbara County in 2006.

Tickets for Guthrie’s April 2018 concert cost $52 apiece, and can be purchased via Eventbrite.com or in person at Boo Boo Records in San Luis Obispo.
