Among our key coverage areas are the high cost of living, housing, homelessness, local government, education (including Cal Poly), tourism, the environment, the wine industry, new businesses and development, and energy, specifically Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant and plans for offshore wind turbines.

Founding and History

Founded in 1869 by District Attorney Walter Murray in what is now Mission Plaza, The Tribune is the oldest continuously operating business in the city of San Luis Obispo and one of the oldest enterprises in San Luis Obispo County. The Tribune is owned by McClatchy, one of the nation’s leading media companies, headquartered in Sacramento, California.
