Louie Carlos threw seven innings of two-hit baseball, and a two-run second proved the difference as the North County Indians won a summer collegiate baseball pitchers’ duel, 2-0, over the Santa Maria Packers on Tuesday in Templeton.
Carlos allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out a pair, and Cal Poly recruit Erich Uehlman pitched around three hits to strike out four in a two-inning save.
Johnny Balliet was 3 for 4 for the Indians (22-8), including one the team’s three doubles.
Catcher Austin Kron, another Mustangs recruit, also doubled and finished 2 for 3 with a run. Templeton native Andy Garretson and Lompoc’s Steve Pico drove in the runs.
