Prep roundup: Templeton High School softball falls in CIF quarterfinals

The Templeton High School softball team lost 3-2 to La Reina in the quarterfinals of the Division 5 CIF-Southern Section playoffs on Thursday in Thousand Oaks.

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a Katie Murphee double, but La Reina scored three runs in the fifth inning to move ahead and hold on for the win.

Freshman pitcher Ashley Daugherty pitched a complete game, struck out 12 batters and went 1 for 3 from the plate.

La Reina sophomore Olivia O'Neal was the hero for the Regents, going 3 for 3 from the plate with two RBI.

Templeton finishes the season with a 19-7-1 record.

Season ends for A.G. doubles team

The season of Arroyo Grande doubles team of Joseph Goryance and Tyler Tencati ended Thursday afternoon at the CIF-Southern Section Sectional Tournament in Carpenteria.

The Eagles team lost to a pair of players from Loyola High; 6-3, 6-1.

Goryance and Tencati ended the season with a 56-14 record.
