Faith Baptist 13, Coast Union 1 (five innings)
The Broncos lost in the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 7 playoffs. Coast Union (16-6) scored in the fifth on a walk, back-to-back singles by Ani Corbet and Reagan Kniffen and a sacrifice by Maddie May.
Kniffen finished with two hits on the day, and Keana Valenauela added a single.
The team enjoyed their trip by going to Disneyland the night before. “The jet lag kind of caught up with them in the fourth inning,” head coach Rocky Fordyce said.
According to Fordyce, Faith Baptist used a “Green Monster” porch in right field to their advantage. “Everything was hit that way,” he said.
Coast Union will lose five seniors to graduation this year.
