Prep roundup: Nipomo High School softball advances in CIF playoffs
The Nipomo High School softball team recorded its first shutout of the season in a five-inning, 13-0 rout of Bell Gardens in a CIF Division 5 wild-card game on Tuesday. Hope Goodall pitched a complete game, allowing four hits with six strikeouts.
Kate Russell was 2 for 3 with a two-run home run, and Gennae Abatti hit a solo home run. Goodall was 2 for 2 with three runs scored, and Angelica Aguirre had a bases-clearing triple in the fifth for the Titans (15-11).
Nipomo will play on the road again on Thursday against St. Bonaventure at 3:15 p.m.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
Morro Bay’s Marvin 4th in breast, 10th in IM at finals
Morro Bay’s Alissa Marvin placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1 minute 7.71 seconds) and was 10th in the 200 individual medley (2:12.53) at the CIF Division 3 Finals on Saturday.
