The PAC 8 Individual League Preliminaries for boys tennis kicked off at Arroyo Grande High School on Thursday.
After the dust settled, four singles players from four different schools and four doubles teams from two schools remained.
No. 1 seeded Brendan Adams of Atascadero won four sets by a 6-0 score to advance. No. 2-seeded Zach Hilty of San Luis Obispo won 6-0, 6-0, and 6-1, 6-0.
Mission Prep’s Luke Llaurado, the No. 5 seed, won 6-0, 6-0, and 6-2, 1-6, 10-8. St. Joseph’s August Munster is the No. 3 seed and also advanced to the semifinals.

Adams will play Llaurado and Hilty will play Munster on Friday in the semifinals.
In doubles, the Arroyo Grande team of Tyler Tencati and Joseph Goryance won 6-0, 6-3, and 6-4, 6-2. Tencati and Goryance are the No.1-seeded team.
Patrick Angle and Parker Turner, also of Arroyo Grande, won 6-0, 6-1, and came back to win 2-6, 6-3, 10-7. Arroyo Grande’s No. 5-seeded Austin Bricker and Joey Kullman won 6-0, 6-0, and 6-4, 6-0 to advance. The No. 6-seeded team of Yuma Olsen and Luke Reilly of Atascadero won both their matches 7-5, 6-3, and 5-7, 7-5, 10-4, respectively.
The semifinals will begin a 10 a.m. and the finals will start at 12:30 p.m.

Los Padres League Finals
Templeton High boys tennis players Colby Grey and Chaz Darrow each won their first-round matches at the Los Padres League championship tournament Thursday afternoon at the Santa Maria Country Club.
Grey won his two sets, 8-0, 8-0, and Darrow claimed his two sets by scores of 8-2 and 8-0.
Nipomo’s Jon Johnson won one set 8-0 and was winning 6-1 before rain stopped the match. Ernie Atilano and Jordan Smith teamed up winning 8-2 and 8-3 to reach the semifinals.
The second round is scheduled to begin at noon Friday.
Los Padres League
Cabrillo won the final tournament of the year with a score of 493, paced by medalist Justin Buenaventura, who shot a 2-over 74 at the La Purisma Golf Course.
Morro Bay was third overall, led by senior Garrett Holdstock, who shot a 90 and was ninth.
“We played with three freshman and a sophomore today,” Morro Bay coach Mike Godsey said. “We’re excited for the future.”
The top five golfers earned CIF-SCGA individual regional berths.
Nipomo’s Ray Navis was selected at the MVP of the league.
Arroyo Grande 3, Morro Bay 0
The Eagles swept 25-13, 25-13, 25-20 in a non-conference matchup.
Sasha Bylsma had 32 assists and four kills, and Ryan Meffert added 10 kills. Evan Lalanne had 10 kills, Andy VanBogelen added six kills and Brett Mac Donald had eight digs.
Artroyo Grande (17-0, 12-0 PAC 8) will learn its matchup for the next Tuesday’s first-round CIF-Southern Section match Sunday.
Paso Robles 6, Mission Prep 4
Mark Armstrong was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, and Oscar Rendon was 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Bearcats, who won their eighth league game in a row.
Seth Matthysse was also 1 for 2 with two runs for Paso Robles.
Nolan Binkele pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs for the Bearcats (18-9, 12-6 PAC 8), who wrap up the season with a final three-game series against Righetti next week.
For Mission Prep, Renn Duncan was 3 for 4, John San Jule was 2 for 4 with a run, and Sage Pera 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run. The Royals had eight hits.
Matt Bosshardt went 6 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out two for Mission Prep (7-20, 2-16 PAC 8).
SWIMMING AND DIVING
PAC 8 Swimming Finals
The Arroyo Grande boys swimming team won its third straight league title, and the eighth in school history, with a score of 499 on Thursday. Righetti was second at 455, trailed by San Luis Obispo (398), Paso Robles (350), Atascadero, Mission Prep, St. Joseph and Pioneer Valley.
Arroyo Grande was paced by wins in the 100 backstroke by Trent Schachter (52.31 seconds), the 100 butterfly by Schachter (50.33), and the 50 freestyle by Jack Alexander (21.72), all of which were CIF-automatic times. Charlie Watkins was third in the 100 back and second in the 100 fly for the Eagles.
San Luis Obispo was led by Galen Penvenne, who was second in the both the 100 back (52.43) and the 200 individual medley (1 minute, 54.71 seconds).
Paso Robles enjoyed top finishes from Zac Brown in the 500 free (4:40.45) and the 200 IM (third in 2:00.09). Josh Dewhurst won the 200 free for the Bearcats (1:43.69).
Sean Mylan of Atascadero was second in the 50 free (22.80) and won the 100 free in 47.92.
Arroyo Grande also won the girls title with a score of 580. San Luis Obispo was second (509) and Righetti was third (381), followed by Paso Robles, Atascadero, Pioneer Valley, St. Joseph, Mission Prep.
The Eagles were led by Hannah Parson, who won the 200 free (1:57.06) and the 100 free (53.75). Emily Sonny was second in the 50 free (25.75) and Paige Leonard won the 100 back in 1:02.62.
Adelynn Peterson won the 100 fly for the Tigers (58.64), and Tyra Popovich won the 50 free in 25.46 and was second in the 100 free. Peterson was second in the 500 free.
Los Padres League Finals (Wednesday)
The Morro Bay girls team finished second with 304 points at Wednesday’s meet. Cabrillo was first with 474 points and Santa Ynez was third (270.5).
The team of Tess Endersby, Alissa Marvin, Aspen Bryant and Torie White won the 200 medley relay with a CIF-automatic time of 1:59.26. Marvin went on to win the 200 IM (CIF-automatic time of 2:14.55) and the 100 breaststroke (CIF-automatic time of 1:08.60).
Emily Rohach won the 1-meter diving competition, recording a score of 378.45.
White was second in the 50 free (CIF-automatic time of 25.35) and was second in the 100 free (CIF-automatic time of 55.77).
On the boys side, the Pirates earned a sixth-place team finish with 187 points. Jack Malzone had CIF-consideration times after placing fourth in two events, the 200 free (1:54.04) and the 100 free (51.84).
Lucas Jakovich had a CIF-consideration time of 2:14.17 in the 200 IM,and the team of Jakovich, Malzone, Riley Boughton and Keelan Rarig had a CIF-consideration time of 1:38.27 in the 200 free relay.
