The Nipomo High boys swim team earned several top seeds at the Los Padres League preliminaries on Saturday at Lompoc.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Tyler Melsheimer, Austin Simpson, Wyatt Marsalek and Peyton Kiunke earned the top seed in a CIF-automatic time of 1 minute, 44.49 seconds. Also posting CIF-automatic times were Marsalek in the 200 free (1:48.69, top seed) and the 500 free (4:48.29, top seed), Simpson in the 200 individual medley (2:01.76, top seed) and the 100 breaststroke (1:01.65, top seed), Kiunke in the 50 free (21.90, top seed) and the 100 free (48.54, top seed), and the 400 free relay team of Gerrit Vander Veen, Marsalek, Kiunke and Simpson (3:22.21, top seed).
Melsheimer also earned a top seed in the 100 back in a CIF-consideration time of 1:00.67, and will be the second seed in the 100 butterfly in a CIF-consideration time of 56.83 seconds.
In addition, Matt Dahlberg posted CIF-consideration times in the 200 IM (2:14.25, third seed) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.58, third seed). Nolan Santala was third in the 100 back in a CIF-consideration time of 1:01.27.
Other CIF-consideration times were posted by Vander Veen in the 100 fly (57.36, fourth seed) and the 100 free (52.28, sixth seed), Joe Gocke in the 500 free (5:24.67, fourth seed), and the 200 free relay team of Vander Veen, Brad Vehren, Melsheimer and Blake Hudson (1:37.13, third seed).
On the girls side, Alayna Gocke posted a CIF-automatic time in the 200 free, winning in 1:57.14.
Anika Smith had a CIF-consideration time of 2:12.22 in the 200 free (fourth seed).
Two relay teams posted CIF-consideration times. The 200 free relay team of Smith, Sasha Ovova, Anna Gilner and Gocke finished in 1:50.94 (second seed), and the 400 free relay team of Gocke, Ovova, Meli Araujo and Smith finished in 4:01.54 (top seed).
Gocke also took second in the 100 fly in 1:02.50.
The league championships will be held Wednesday.
