The Paso Robles baseball team earned a 7-1 win over Pioneer Valley on Wednesday, led by an efficient outing by starting pitcher Jeff Newman.
He threw just 52 pitches over six innings and allowed two hits, no walks and one run. Oscar Rendon had two hits and two RBI, and Justin Davis added a pair of hits and one RBI.
Christian Erickson also had a single and an RBI for the Bearcats (9-8, 3-5 PAC 8), who host Pioneer Valley on Friday.
Arroyo Grande 17, Mission Prep 3

Mission Prep led 3-0 after two innings before Arroyo Grande’s bats came alive to score five runs in the fourth and 11 in the fifth for the victory.
Kale Varvel hit a home run and had three RBI with two runs scored, and Jake Shusterich was 2 for 3 with four RBI and two runs scored. Joey DeLaRosa was 3 for 5 and had three runs scored for Arroyo Grande (12-4, 6-2 PAC 8).
Andy Boncich hit his first homer of the year, a two-run shot in the second inning for the Royals. Matt Bosshardt was 3 for 4 with a run scored, and Renn Duncan was 3 for 3 on the day.
The series will conclude on Friday at Arroyo Grande.
San Luis Obispo 10, Righetti 1
San Luis Obispo had hits by 10 different players, including a three-run Jeremy Jess home run in the seventh inning, in their win over Righetti.
Tru Wells had four hits on the day, a double in the fifth, three singles and two RBI. Cooper Benson struck out eight and gave up three hits in five innings to lower his ERA to 1.296 on the year.
St. Joseph 9, Atascadero 4
Atascadero managed three hits on the day in a loss to St. Joseph.
Spencer Erdman struck out five and was tagged with the loss. Tysen Delkener, Logan Armstrong and Noah Gastello each had RBI for Atascadero, which concludes the series on Thursday at home.
Coast Union 15, Santa Maria 3
All three singles players swept for the Broncos. Alexis Mireles won 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, Max Rodriguez won 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 and Omar Alacon swept 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.

Morro Bay 103, Orcutt Academy 64 (boys); Morro Bay 101, Orcutt Academy 69 (girls)
For the boys, Keelan Rarig won the 200 free in 2 minutes 10.22 seconds, and Riley Boughten-Proano won the 50 free in 25.06.
The girls were led by Tess Endersby, who won both the 50 free and the 100 backstroke. Torie White also won two events, the 200 free and the 100 free, and Alissa Marvin added wins in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.
