Prep roundup: Paso Robles’ Alyssa Valle throws a perfect game

Alyssa Valle threw a perfect game to lead the Paso Robles High softball team to a 9-0 win over St. Joseph, allowing the Bearcats to split a pair of games Friday at the Best of the West Tournament in Santa Maria.

Mikayla Stone backed Valle’s gem with a 3-for-4 performance, with three RBI and a stolen base.

In the first game, St. Bonaventure beat Paso Robles 4-2. Brooke Milder was 1 for 3 with a home run, Becca Twyman was 2 for 3 and Sahara Harvey was 1 for 2 with a triple for the Bearcats (4-8).

Morro Bay 3, San Luis Obispo 2; San Luis Obispo 20, Lone Pine 0 (four innings)

The San Luis Obispo softball team split a pair of games at the Pioneer Valley Tournament. In the first game, Natalie Ziegler and Janae Caldeira each were 2 for 3, and Marissa Piatt was 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Hanna Gibbs allowed three earned runs in 5 1/3 innings and struck out four in the loss.

The Tigers rebounded in the second game, led by Piatt, who hit a three-run home run in the first inning and finished 4 for 4 with five RBI. Zielger was 2 for 4 with three runs scored, and Bee Soll went 2 for 2 with two runs scored.

Sami Good pitched all four innings, striking out 10 and allowing one hit. Good also had a double, a single and an RBI from the plate.

San Luis Obispo (5-7-1) is scheduled to play Templeton in a double-header at 2 p.m., with the second game set for 6 p.m.

BASEBALL

Arroyo Grande 1, Linfield Christian 0

Junior Jake Shusterich pitched a complete-game three-hitter, and the Eagles finished third at the 16-team Don Lugo Tournament on Friday morning.

The Eagles (8-3) scored their only run after Zak Mosley hit a double, moved to third on a passed ball and crossed home on Kale Varvel’s RBI ground out.

Arroyo Grande returns to PAC 8 play next week when it goes to Righetti for a 4:30 p.m. game Tuesday.

Mission Prep 10, Pitman 6

Mission Prep scored five runs in the fifth inning to rally for a win at the San Luis Obispo Spring Tournament.

Renn Duncan was 2 for 2 with a double, two RBI and was hit by a pitch twice. He was hit five times during the tournament. The Royals went 2-2 at the tournament.

Robert Crandall was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Austin Anderson had two hits and Sage Pera had two RBI for Mission Prep (6-6, 1-2 PAC 8).

Andrew Souza got the win, pitching a six-inning complete game.

Paso Robles 6, Merced 3; Paso Robles 10, Buhach Colony 0 (Thursday)

Nolan Binkele pitched six innings and allowed one unearned run for the win on Friday at the Righetti Tournament. Justin Davis was 1 for 2 with two RBI, Matt Keller was 2 for 3 with a double and Christian Erickson was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

In Thursday’s game, Ryan Harvel pitched six innings, giving up two hits for the Bearcats. Erickson went 1 for 2 with two runs and a triple, and Davis added a double and a run.

Brad Pews had a double, and Mark Armstrong went 2 for 2 with a pair of runs and an RBI.

Paso Robles (7-5) will play San Luis Obispo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
