Prep softball: Atascadero loses doubleheader to Buchanan
The Atascadero softball team dropped both games of a home doubleheader to Buchanan (Clovis) 11-4 and 9-7 on Wednesday despite hitting four home runs.
Megan McClain hit two solo shots in the first game, pushing her tally to a PAC 8-leading eight on the season, which leads the league by four.
Macie Pires went 2 for 3, and Kaila Herzig hit a two-run home run for the Greyhounds. Madison Messina also had a ground-rule double.
Sally Bowles was handed the loss in the first game, allowing nine earned runs, striking out four and walking one.
McClain pitched the second game, allowing five earned runs with a strikeout. Bowles went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Alli Reagan went 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBI, and Pires had a double and two RBI.
Atascadero (6-5) will play Tranquility in the Arroyo Grande Tournament on Friday.
